What do I need to get started on Pooosh?
  • A phone which is compatible with Pooosh; either Java enabled or Windows Mobile 5/6 should work.
  • Your phone needs to be GPRS/ 3G enabled
  • The Pooosh application must be loaded on to your phone
  • Airtime from your service provider
How do I download Pooosh to my phone?

Point your mobile phone's WAP browser to http://www.pooosh.mobi then follow the instructions

Will Pooosh work anywhere in the World?
  • Yes, anywhere that has GPRS, 3G or WIFI
  • All the functions of Pooosh (except off net SMS, 087 Direct, LBS and Callsava) will work everywhere.
    The SMS, LBS and Callsava will only work in South Africa until a distributor is appointed in your country.
Is my mobile phone compatible with Pooosh?

Almost all new mobile phones are readily compatible with Pooosh.

How do I check if my mobile phone is WAP/GPRS/3G enabled?

From your web browser on your phone - type in http://www.pooosh.mobi. If your phone takes you to our WAP site you are enabled already.

How do I download WAP and GPRS settings to my phone?

Rollover the cellular provider logos to read the instructions for that provider.

Not in South Africa? Simply check with your own network service provider about how to enable this.

Is there a Windows Mobile version as well as a Java version of Pooosh?

Yes there is both a Windows version and a Java version. When you log on to http://www.pooosh.mobi with your WAP browser and click the 'Install Pooosh' link you will automatically be taken to the correct download link.

Can I give any User Name or must I give the name on my ID book?

As a Pooosh user, you can input any user name you like, either your birth name or a pseudonym of your choosing – e.g. Purple Panther.

When registering, do I have to give my details?

No. In the interests of safety and security, inserting your details is completely optional. Should you wish to however, Pooosh does allow for you to enter your First Name, Surname and Email Address

How do I get my activation pin?

This will be SMSd to you upon registering. Retrieve the pin, type it into the registration page and press 'Ok'. A box will pop up asking you to allow Pooosh to use your network. Press 'Ok'. Select your network access point from the list based on the cellular network to which you subscribe e.g. MTN GPRS. Pooosh will then test your network and you will be loaded up and ready for action.

I have received an invitation to join Pooosh from a friend– how do I go about loading up?

Open the Pooosh invite SMS message (in your SMS inbox). Point your WAP browser to the link as indicated in the SMS. i.e. http://www.pooosh.mobi as provided by your friend. Select 'Install'.

If I forget/lose my password what do I need to do?

If you are a South African subscriber send a blank SMS to 34593. SMS cost R2.00. Your password will be sent to you via SMS.

If I have removed Pooosh and now want to re-install how do I ensure that my phone's cache is clear for re-loading?

Open up your WAP browser and then clear the cache.

How do I purchase a Pooosh UNLIMITED?

You can do so via 'Recharge' under 'Options' and you can automatically send a Premium rated SMS (if in South Africa), also available at selected retail outlets (if in South Africa), or off the Internet.

Will the Java version work on Windows mobile phones?

No, you must use the Windows mobile version. You may download the Windows Mobile version from http://www.pooosh.mobi. Select option Install Pooosh. Now select Pooosh for Windows Mobile which is a cab file. Download and copy to your mobile phone using Microsoft Activesync If you are downloading off your WAP browser, our server will identify the correct version to send to you automatically.

Will Pooosh work with WIFI?

Yes, Pooosh will work over WiFi however your phone must be capable of WiFi.

I download a later version of Pooosh but when I install the old version is not overwritten?

You need to ensure you clear the cache in your WAP browser.

On registration can I use any user name or must it be my real name or ID number?

You can choose any user name.

Can my password be in any format?

Your password may be in any format however it must be at least 4 characters long and may not be the same as your user name or mobile number and cannot be 0000.




Preferences and Settings
How do I change my settings?

When registered, all your settings are stored in our database. To alter them click the 'Account' link which can be found under 'Settings'. This will allow you to change all your settings.

What must I set the "Time zone" offset to?

The current server time is displayed in hours. If your time in hours matches the server time then leave the offset to 0. Increase or decrease the offset time to match the server time.

What should the media size be set to?

By default it is set to 25KB and should not have to be changed except for lower specification phones where it must be reduced to 5KB if you are receiving memory errors.

What is 'suspend timeout' used for and what is the recommended value?

The suspend timeout function optimises battery usage by taking Pooosh off line if Pooosh has not been used for the duration of the 'suspend timeout' period. Recommended value is 30 minutes.

I can use my phone to browse the Internet but when I try to use Pooosh I get a message "Unable to connect to service or invalid data stream"

Typically this is due to incorrect GPRS or Java settings. Some phones require Java permissions to be set. Some phones also require that the application, Pooosh in this case to be setup to allow access to the Internet

How do I set my Java permissions?

This would typically be found under 'Settings/connectivity/Settings for Java' where you would select the profile to use. In most cases it should be set to the same profile that the Internet is set to.

Is there a Windows Mobile version as well as a Java version of Pooosh?

I have changed my mobile phone number. What must I do to re-register with Pooosh?

Connect to http://www.pooosh.mobi and select 'Manage My Pooosh Account' and enter the details required. An activation code will be SMSd to your new number. Now click on the link 'Activate Number' and enter the required details and click 'Next' to submit. Your Pooosh account will have been updated with your new number.

Using Pooosh
How do I begin Poooshing?

To begin Poooshing, click on the Pooosh icon on your phone's desktop or go to your applications folder and click on the icon. Agree to the standard terms and conditions by clicking 'Yes'. Then enter your User Name, Password and Mobile Number.

Then scroll back up to your Pooosh user name and press 'Ok'. A question will then pop up asking you to allow Pooosh to use your network. Press 'Yes'. Select a network access point from the list that pops up e.g. MTN GPRS; based on the cellular network to which you subscribe. Pooosh will then install and ask you to register a few optional details such as your First Name, Surname and Email address.

Enter these details (optional) then press 'Ok' - your info will automatically update and you will then be asked to enter your activation PIN sent to you by SMS. Retrieve the PIN and type it in and press 'Ok'.

A box will pop up asking you to allow Pooosh to use your network. Press 'Ok'. Select your network access point from the list based on the cellular network to which you subscribe e.g. MTN GPRS. Pooosh will then test your network and you will be loaded up and ready for action.

How do I use Voice Chat?

To use Voice Chat select a contact by scrolling down on to them. Press 'Ok' and then start recording. When you have finished, just press 'Send' and your message will be sent.

Once you have registered the first thing you need is friends. So either invite them and / or search for other Poooshers. Go to your 'Contacts', "Options' and then "Search'. You can search by "Name', 'POOOSH ID', 'Phone number' and find your friends on Pooosh.

The quickest way is to search by phone number. Simply enter the mobile number or part of the mobile number and from the Options menu select OK

Also in the main menu you can use 'Invite a Friend'.

Invite friends and or add other Pooosh contacts to your contacts folder and they will appear in your Voice Chat folder when it is opened. Once you have contacts in your Voice Chat folder just select who you want to talk to and then you can send you voice messaging back and forth all day if you want.

Contacts online will be seen with an active icon. Those who are not online will find your messages in their 'Inbox' when they next log in to Pooosh.

You must be accepted by another Pooosh user for them to receive your messages. Until you are accepted our server will hold your messages.

When I am in Contacts, what is the difference between a Pooosh user and Other User?

The other user is not a Pooosh subscriber but you should save his details within Pooosh in order to send them an email and / or SMSs.

I have added a new Pooosh contact but when I go the SMS menu the newly added contact does not appear in my contacts list.

That is because the contact has chosen not to share their Personal details or hasn't replied yet.

How do I send a message?

Once you have added your contacts scroll up to 'Voice Chat' and click on this option. A text box will pop up asking you for permission to use the data network. Click 'Yes'. Record your message and press 'Send'. It is as easy as that!

How do I get incoming messages?

If you click on the 'Messages' option it allows you to set how you'll be able to hear Voice Chat audio messages: you can hear them immediately, be alerted by a beep or you can put your phone on silent. If the Speaker option is selected, when a Voice Chat message is received it will play through your cell phone's speaker as it is received. You can listen to all messages from your Inbox at a later stage if you have selected the silent and/or beep mode.

How do I use the Chat Rooms facility?

Private Chat Rooms

Firstly, Pooosh offers a completely secure instant chat system that allows you to chat with only those people who you know, or that you can identify. In other words, anonymity in the chat rooms is not permitted. But best of all it's FREE!

Only you can invite another chatter to join your contact list and, if invited, the other chatter has a similar right to accept or decline your invitation. If you find that you do not wish to chat with someone any longer, you can simply delete him or her from your contacts list.

The chat room also allows you to conference - chat among 3 or more contacts at the same time, or even to undertake several conferences simultaneously.

In order to access the facility, select 'Chat Rooms' from the main Pooosh menu on your phone: A list of options will appear.

Clicking on the 'Chat' option allows you to enter and use the Chat Room of your choice. Clicking on the 'Edit' option allows you to block anyone, anytime.

The 'Create New' option lets you form your own Chat Room. To do this, select a name for your room that is at least five characters long and press 'Confirm'. All of your Pooosh contacts will then appear on screen. You can choose which of those contacts you want in your Chat Room. When you have selected those you wish to invite press 'Save'. These contacts will then see your Chat Room on their cell phones with the option to join.

The final option is the 'Delete' option. You may only delete Chat Rooms that you yourself have created.

How do I use Callsava?

If you live in South Africa you can use this function to save money when calling any International number or if you are a pre-paid Pooosh subscriber you can save money on all calls to landline numbers anywhere nationwide.

To make a Callsava call enter the number that you want to dial and press the Call-Sava softkey. After a few seconds the Pooosh server will call you back on your mobile phone. The calling number will start with 087. When you answer the call a short voice prompt will play and you will be connected to the number that you entered. The last number that you dialled is always stored. If you want to call another number, select Options > New number. To check how much Callsava credit you have available select Options>Credit Balance. To Recharge your Callsava Account Select Options>Recharge>Voucher. Enter the voucher Pin number and press the Ok Key. To buy more Pooosh voice chats go to any Shoprite, Checkers and save up to 80% on your international calls.

Please ensure that all diverts are disabled on your phone or else the Callsava could be answered by your phone's voice mail system.

How do I use SMS?

As a pre-paid subscriber, you will be able to send your SMSs to anyone, anywhere at drastically reduced prices of those charged by regular service providers. You can buy credit for this from the Pooosh website or from Pooosh participating retailers nationwide. Please note, while it will very soon be available in a number of countries, this function is only currently available in South Africa.

To use it, select 'SMS' on the main Pooosh menu. You will see those Pooosh contacts that have allowed you to see their phone numbers. Clicking 'Options' shows you the following options: SMS Contact, New SMS, Credit Balance and Recharge

'SMS Contact' lets you send a message to those Pooosh contacts that appear on your list.

If you want to SMS someone from your normal phone book press 'New SMS'. Then under options select 'Add from contacts'. Pressing 'Credit balance' will show you the number of credits you have available for use to send SMSs to non-Pooosh contacts and mailboxes. One credit is effectively equal to one local SMS. International SMSs are effectively equal to two credits. Don't forget, if you are texting to another Pooosh user this function is free. It can be found under the 'Messages' section.

You can top up your Pooosh SMS credit for SMSs to non-Poooshers by purchasing SMS bundle pins from selected retailers, which are available in R10.00 denominations or online by clicking here.

How do I use email?

When you registered on Pooosh you were given an email address that uses your registered user name in it e.g. if your user name is Purple Panther, your Pooosh email address will be (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). You can send email to and receive email from any computer in the world.

How do I email a Pooosh user?

To use this function, select 'Email' on the Pooosh main menu. From the Sub Menu select New Message: When this option is selected a list of your contacts are displayed. Tick the contacts that you want to email and then select the “Options” soft key. From the sub menu select “Next”. If the email is not for one of your contacts then select “New recipient”. Type in the subject and message and then select “Options” which will give you the Options to either Send Now or Save (To your outbox). You also have options to add a file attachment, record a voice message or take a photo and attach to the email.

How do I email a non-Pooosh user?

Select 'Email,' then from the Sub Menu select New Message: When this option is selected a list of your contacts are displayed. Tick the contacts that you want to email and then select the “Options” soft key. From the sub menu select “Next”. If the email is not for one of your contacts then select “New recipient”. Type in the subject and message and then select “Options” which will give you the Options to either Send Now or Save (To your outbox). Your message will go to any computer in the world, and their message will come back to you.

What do you mean by my "preferred" email address?

When registering on Pooosh, you are permitted to enter any email address even your own email address that you currently use. E.G (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Pooosh users will have the option to send email to either your Pooosh email address or your preferred email address.

How many emails can I send per month?

You get to send and receive 10 megabytes of email data per month. We will let you know shortly when attachments can be sent and received to and from your email address.

Where do I find emails that have been sent to me?

Emails that are sent to you will land in your Email inbox. Select Email on the Pooosh main menu, then select Inbox to retrieve these messages.

How do I use my Inbox?

Your 'Inbox' is where you will find all your Pooosh-to-talk, text messages, file attachments, invites and acceptance notices from other users who wish to communicate with you. All of these messages will be date and time stamped. Messages will be identified by different icons so that you can see what type of message you have received, text, voice or a picture or audio file.

You will be able to re -listen to or re-read your messages until you decide to delete them; however any messages that are older than 15 days will automatically be deleted. Use the delete message and 'delete multiple' message function for easy management of your 'inbox'.

How long are my messages stored in my Inbox?

15 days.

Can I reply to a text message via a Voice Chat voice SMS?

No this is not possible at the moment however you may reply to a Voice Chat message via a text message.

When I retrieve a Voice Chat message it does not play on my phone however, there is no error code. Why?

Please check that within your Pooosh application you have not set "inbound Pooosh messages" to silent mode.

You can also check that your Mobile phone's profile is not on silent mode.

Can I make a normal mobile call to my contacts directly from Pooosh?

Yes you may. Go to 'Messenger' menu and select 'Options'. Select 'Call Contact'. You may also select the 'Make call' option and then select 'Options' again, this will allow you to retrieve the phone numbers in you Mobile Phone contact list.

How do I check how much SMS credit I have left for SMSs that I want to send to non-Poooshers?

Select 'SMS' in the main Pooosh Menu, then select 'Options' and then select 'Credit balance'.

How do I change my preferred e-mail address?

Select 'Pooosh Menu', then 'Options', then 'Account'. Your preferred email address may be changed by editing 'Email Address'

What is the preferential Callsava rate that I will receive when I call my friends in the UK?

Loading Contacts / Inviting Friends
How do I search for existing contacts on the Pooosh server?

Go to your 'Contacts', search under 'Name', or 'Mobile number', or 'Pooosh ID'. When you find someone who you know 'Add' them and they will get an invite message from you.

How do I invite a friend?

Main menu > options> Invite a Friend option – click on it again – add your friend's mobile number; select whether you want your details to be included in the invite and then simply press 'Send' – it is as easy as that! Your friend will receive an SMS from you inviting him to join Pooosh.

How do I ensure that my details are used when inviting a friend?

When you invite a friend from the Pooosh menu, a pop up menu will provide you an option to send or withhold your details.

How do I know if the person I am inviting is already a registered Pooosh user?

A message will be displayed informing you that the person is already registered.

When I have added a contact why do they only appear in the Voice Chat folder and not under SMS and Email also?

They will only appear if their personal details are shared with you.

Privacy and Security
How do I ensure that my details are kept private?

In your profile you will find an option to 'Hide Your Online Status'. If you switch this on, your profile will only appear to board administrators and to yourself. You will then be counted as a hidden user. Please note the default setting for 'Share My Details' is set to 'Yes'. This allows you to share your details with all other users of Pooosh. If you press 'No' it will only allow your user name to be shown to other users.

How do I prevent anonymous participants from joining my chat room?

Our chat rooms never allow anonymous participants to join. You will always know the identity of a chatter as only you can invite another to join your contact list, if invited the other has a similar right to accept or decline your invitation.

If I no longer wish to chat to someone how do I remove them or block them from joining a chat my chat room?

Should you no longer wish to chat to someone any more you can simply delete him or her from your contact list. As the initiator of a chat room you are also able to block anyone at anytime by using the 'Edit' function and un-ticking those you wish to no longer include in your chat room.

I have changed my mobile phone, how do I re-register with Pooosh?

You will need to download Pooosh again onto your new mobile phone and register with your existing personal details being:

  • Your User Name
  • Your password
  • Your mobile number

If they match with your account an activation pin will be sent to your mobile number via SMS

Storage and File Sizes
How long will messages in my Inbox be stored for?

15 days.

How long will e-mail received in my Pooosh E-mail address be stored for?

Indefinitely, however there is a limit of 10megs available in your inbox, once you have reached this limit, then newer messages will overwrite older messages.

Is there a limit on the size of files that I can share with other Poooshers?

At present this is set to 700k *(subject to change).

Sometimes messages disappear from My Inbox

Messages are stored on the server and are available to be read/played back PROVIDED the contact that sent you the message has you added to their contacts. If they remove you from their contacts then you will not be able to view any of their messages.

Pooosh recharge, SMS bundles and International Callsava
What denominations are available for UNLIMITED pooosh?

Recharge using Premium rated SMS. You can recharge from your Main Menu by selecting Recharge and then selecting either R2, R5 or R10 from the Menu items. The Premium rated SMS will be prepared for you. R2 gives you unlimted Voice Chats for 1 day, R5 gives you unlimited Voice Chats for 3 days and R10 gives you unlimited Voice Chats for 7 days. You can also purchase recharge vouchers from a participating Retail store or pay by credit card by going to http://www.pooosh.net

How can I tell how much SMS credit I have for sending SMSs to non-Pooosher?

From the SMS menu select Options then Check Balance.

How do I purchase additional reduced rate SMS credit for sending SMSs to non-Poooshers?

Under 'Pooosh' Menu, 'Options' there is a 'Recharge' Menu Item. Buy on line SMS credits or buy from selected retailers R10 bundles and load under 'Recharge' and enter your voucher number.

How do I purchase International Callsava credit?

You can purchase your top up International and Local airtime from participating retail outlets or on the internet. If you buy a voucher from a retail outlet, enter the voucher number under 'Recharge' > voucher number. Enter the voucher number and you will be recharged.

How much do I save by using Callsava?

Wherever you call in the world or to any landline in South Africa from your cell phone, Pooosh will save you 30-70 % off the normal GSM rates. These rates can be viewed by clicking here.

Where can I buy Callsava pins?

You can purchase Callsava pins from selected retailers nationwide or via premium rated SMS. They are available in R50 denominations. Please note, while it will very soon be available in a number of countries, this function is only currently available in South Africa.

How do I check how much Callsava credit I have left?

Once you have entered your pin or pins, you will be loaded with Pooosh Callsava credit. You can check your Pooosh Callsava credit at any time on the main menu by clicking 'Options', then 'Settings', and then 'Account'. Your remaining Pooosh Callsava credit will be displayed in local currency.

General Questions
How do I re-connect after being taken off-line?

Look under the 'Options' in the main menu, select this, scroll down and select 'Connect'.

What causes Pooosh to go Off-line?

Loss of GSM or non-activity.

How will I know when there is an updated version of Pooosh available?

Users will be notified by Pooosh email or a Text message, which you will find in your inbox, sent by Pooosh Admin. You can also select 'Options' under the main menu and then scroll down to 'Search for updates' follow the prompts on screen.

How do I upgrade to a later version of Pooosh?

You select 'Options' under the main menu and then scroll down to 'Search for updates' follow the prompts on screen.

Parental Control
What is Parental Control

A feature that allows parents to block access to all public chat rooms

How do you activate parental control

Get the Pooosh user to logon to Pooosh and scroll to the chat room screen. One of the soft keys will display a menu item Parental control. You will be prompted to enter a password, which will allow you to activate the parental control feature.

ID Validation
What is ID validation?

It is a check to determine your age based on your identification number. Only applies to South Africa.

What is it used for?

If you are 18 or over then you will be allowed access to the over 18 chat rooms.

Is my ID number stored or used for any other purpose

No. No record is kept of your ID number and neither is it transmitted over the Internet. The validation process is done on your phone.

GPS
What can it be used for?

It allows you to retrieve and display your GPS co-ordinates based on your current location. In addition speed, altitude and time are also displayed. Your co-ordinates may be sent to someone by either SMS (SMS charges apply) or email. You may also allow your Pooosh contacts to retrieve your last known location. On windows mobile devices there is a feature that allows your current location to be requested by means of an incoming SMS. If the incoming SMS contains a secret pin code that you have given out to your friends, Pooosh will automatically reply with an SMS which contains your location (SMS charges apply).

Does it work if Pooosh is Offline?

Yes, as long as Pooosh is running. You may be off line, and not visible to other Pooosh users.

How often is my location updated?

Every 5 minutes.

How much GSM data does it use?

Retrieving information from satellites uses no GSM data. Every 5 minute update which stores your location uses roughly 100 bytes of data.

Can all my contacts see my location?

No, you have to give them permission to view your location.

Can I get the street address based on my location?

Yes there is an option to display the address

Can I see my location on a Map?

Yes. The only choice is Google maps but more options will be available soon.

087 Direct
What is it used for?

To make international calls by dialing a local access number.

How much does it cost to make a call?

Check your service providers call charges to numbers starting with 087.

Is it cheaper than dialing the international number directly from my mobile phone?

This depends on the call plan/package that you are on

Online


Shows all your online IM contacts. This includes MSN, Gtalk, Yahoo, ICQ and Aim.  You have to logon to Facebook to chat to your Online Facebook contacts. If the Icon is red this means that you have no contacts that are online. TIP: You may also chat to online contacts from the Messenger menu

Pooosh Email


Pooosh Email

Pooosh automatically creates an email account on successful activation of a new Pooosh account.  Your email account details are sent to your Pooosh Inbox as well as to your Email Inbox. The IMAP protocol is used.

A check is automatically made every 15 minutes for new email.  If there is new email for you, the number of emails will be displayed to the right of the email icon on the MAIN SCREEN  IE (4/10).  The first number is the number of emails that have not yet been read and the second number is the total number of emails in your inbox.

When this option is selected a list of your contacts are displayed. If your want to send an email to one of your contacts then tick the contacts that you want to email and then select the “Options” soft key.  From the sub menu select “Next”. If the email is not for one of your contacts then select “New recipient”. Type in the subject and message and then select “Options” which will give you’re the Options to either Send Now or Save (To your outbox). 

Voice messages are recorded in wav format.

My Email


My email allows you to connect to other email servers such as Gmail etc.  It supports POP3 and IMAP  protocol.  My Email has the same functions as Pooosh Email

Voice Chat


Send Voice Chat (talking SMS) messages to your Pooosh contacts. Messages may be as long as 30 seconds. If your contact is offline send them a "Nudge", which is a missed call from number 0878053444. Save this number in your phonebook as PoooshNudge and get your contacts to do the same. A green Icon means that the contact is ONLINE. A red Icon means that the contact is OFFLINE.

Voice chat message may also be sent to multiple contacts. Please note that each message is sent separately so it may take some time to deliver all the messages

Pooosh Messenger

Select Pooosh for a one-on-one chat with other Pooosh contacts. To send a file to a Pooosh contact, select the Pooosh contact from the Pooosh menu , select Options > Send File. Browse to and select the file you want to send and click on the SEND button. OTHER IM PLATFORMS:  You will be prompted to enter your USER name and Password when using one of the other supported IM platforms. EG: If you select MSN you must enter your MSN user name and password. Once you have entered your username and password for any the other supported IM platforms you will automatically be logged in to them when you log into Pooosh.  Anyone of your contacts online from any of these networks can then IM with you through Pooosh. You will see their ONLINE/OFFLINE presence either in MESSENGER or in ONLINE on the main menu.

Chatrooms

There are three categories of Chat Rooms:

  • Public
  • Private
  • Over 18

Any Pooosh user can join a Public/Over 18 Chat Room whereas you have to be invited to join a Private chat room by the creator of the Private Chat Room. To create a new Chat Room select Options > Create New. Only the creator of a Chat Room can delete the Chat Room. In Private chat rooms you can use the Options key to invite and delete your private chat buddies. A word filter is applied when using Public Chat Rooms.

Parental Control

Access to Public and over 18 chat rooms may be restricted by the using enabling parental control. To activate a “parent” is required to enter a password which is stored and only used for this function. Once parental control is enabled access to public and over 18 chat rooms will be restricted. This a permanent restriction and may only be de-activated by entering the correct password.

Verify Age

To join a Over 18 chat room you have to enter your ID (South Africa only). A validation process is done and if the ID number is valid and you are 18 years of age or older then you are allowed access into the chat rooms. The ID number is not stored by Pooosh or transmitted over the Internet

The following options are available when you are in a chat room:

Chat
Start a text chat session

Bookmark
Bookmark the selected chat room. The bookmarked chat room will be added to the  “FAVORITES” Group on the chat room main screen.

Create new
Create a new PRIVATE chat room

Delete
Delete a Private  chat room. Only the owner, that is the person who created the chat room may delete the chat room

Occupants
Displays Pooosh users currently in the chat room

Send
Send a chat text  message

Private Chat (text)
Invite an occupant of  chat room for a private chat session

Private Voice Chat
Invite an occupant of  chat room for a private voice chat session

Add to contacts
Invite a occupant of a chat room to add you to their contacts list

Disable Voice Chat
Does not allow members of the chat room to send you a private voice chat message/request

Enable Voice Chat
Allows members of the chat room to send you a private voice chat message/request

Facebook


Register facebook

To use Facebook you first need to register your existing Facebook account details with Pooosh.  From the Facebook screen, select Menu followed by Edit. Enter your Facebook User Name and Password then press Save

Logon

To connect to Facebook select Menu item Connect or else select the Facebook Icon. The logon sequence MAY TAKE SOME TIME. When completed the following information will be displayed:

  • Total number of Online contacts
  • Total number of friends
  • Total number of notifications (Event and Friends Invites and Pokes)
  • Total number of unread messages in your Inbox.

Online
Select this option to CHAT to your facebooks friends that are currently online

Friends
Options to:

  • Post to wall
  • Wall to wall
  • Poke
  • Send Notification
  • Send Message

Notifications
Read new notifications

Inbox
Contains all your unread Inbox messages.

Status
Select  to update your status.

Upload Photo
Upload a picture to your Facebook Pooosh Album. The Pooosh Photo Album gets created by Pooosh.

Take & Upload
Take a photo and save it to your Pooosh Facebook Album

Contacts


Manage your contacts here. ADD/SEARCH for a Contact: To search for an existing Pooosh user select Options > Search.  Enter the contacts Mobile number and hit the "Search key". You may also search by First name, Surname or Pooosh ID.

There are 2 categories of Contacts, "Pooosh" and "Other". "Other" contacts are not part of the Pooosh community but you may want them in your contact list so that you can email or SMS them without having to type in the email address or mobile number.

  • Invite a Friend
    Send a free SMS to a friend inviting them to join Pooosh.
  • Edit
    Add or edit a users display name
  • Call
    Make a telephone call to your contact without leaving Pooosh.
  • New
    Add a new Pooosh or “Other” contact
  • Delete
    Delete a contact
Twitter


The first time you use Twitter you will be prompted to enter your  existing Twitter user name and password. If you do not have a Twitter account then register at http://www.twitter.com/

To logon select Twitter from the Services screen. When successfully logged in the following menu items will be displayed:

What you doing
Use this item to update your status/Timeline.

  • Favorites
    Your last 5 Update Status messages are automatically stored under "Favorites". Select [Options > Favorites] to copy one of the messages.
  • Insert GPS
    To update your Timeline with your current GPS location selct [Options>Insert GPS]

Inbox
This is the storage zone for your inbound direct messages.

Sent Box
Storage zone for direct messages you have sent.

Friends Timeline
Displays the last 20 Timelines posted by yourself and your friends.  To exclude your Timelines from the display select Options>  "Hide Me".

Public Timeline
Displays the 20 most recent Public Timelines.

Trending Topics
Displays the 20 most popular topics.

Friends
Displays list of your friends with an option to view their 20 most recent Timelines.

Followers
Displays a list of your Followers with an option to send them a Direct Message.

My Timeline
Displays your 20 most recent Timelines.

UPLOAD PHOTO
Uploads a photo stored on your phone to your Twitpic and/or MobyPicture account

Take & Upload
Take a photo with your phone and upload it to your Twitpic  and/or MobyPicture account.  You also have the option to Update your timeline with a link to your photo

Photos are stored at http://www.twitter.com/ and or http.www.mobypicture.com

If you have a Twitter account then you also have a Twitpic account and MobyPicture account.  To view your pictures login to at http://www.twitter.com/ or http.www.mobypicture.com with your Twitter username and password.

Ispy (LBS)


ISpy is a tracking service that allows Pooosh users to track other cell phones users provided consent has been given. This service is only available on Vodacom and MTN Networks. However Cellc and Virgin mobile phone users will be able to locate Vodacom and MTN cell phone users
IMPORTANT: There is no monthly subscription charge. There is only a charge of R1.50 per location request.  This service is only available on Vodacom and MTN Networks. However Cellc and Virgin mobile phone users will be able to locate Vodacom and MTN cell phone users.

This positioning method uses the Mobile Phone Network to discover the location of a mobile phone

How it works

First you have to register for the service with Pooosh Cellular Pty Ltd. By registering you will allow other Cell phone users to locate you providing you have given them consent to locate you.  In addition, you in turn may also locate other Cell phone users provided they have given you their consent to locate them

Register (Pooosh User)

The first time that you select the iSpy menu you will be prompted to register for the service. Once you have registered you will have to confirm via a reply to an SMS that Pooosh Cellular Pty LTD has sent you , that you consent to be located.

Add Mobile user/Pooosh Contact

From the iSpy Menu>Options select Permissions.  A list of all you contacts will be displayed.  Tick/mark the contacts that you allow to locate you.  When complete press the Back Soft Key

Remove mobile user

From the iSpy Menu  options select Permissions.  A list of all you contacts will be displayed.  Un-tick/un-mark the contacts that you no longer allow to locate you.  When complete press the Back Soft Key

Add Mobile User that is not on Pooosh

From the contacts menu Select Options>New.  Set the Contact type to ‘Other’.  Now enter contacts user name and Mobile number and press the Save soft key. NOTE Mobile number must be entered in International format  IE Mobile number 0833231234must be entered as 27833231234

Next Select the iSpy Menu. Scroll down the list of contacts and select the contact you have just added. From the iSPY Options menu Select ‘Ask Permission.’   A SMS will now be sent to your new contact asking their consent to add them as your contact on Pooosh. If they reply with “YES” to the SMS then their number will be Registered on Pooosh Cellular Pty LTD.  Pooosh Cellular PTY LTD will then send a SMS to the new contact requesting their consent.

Customize Menu


This option allows you to change the order of the menu items on the Pooosh Main menu.  Menu items may be moved up or down and even moved to a Sub Menu called ‘More’.

Move Menu Items

From the Pooosh Main screen select Options > Customize Menu which will display the screen above.  Tick the menu items that you want to stay on the Main Menu. The items that are not ticked will be moved to Sub Menu ‘More’. Menu items Inbox and Online may not be moved to Sub Menu ‘More’. When you have finished selecting the menu items press the ‘Back” soft key or select the ‘Order’ soft key to change the order of the menu items

Order Menu Items

From the Pooosh Main screen select Options > Customize Menu.  Now select the order key which will take you back to the Main Screen. Now scroll down to the menu item that you want to move and press the ‘Options’ soft key which will give you the option to move the highlighted menu item up, down, top or bottom.

Faxes


The first time that you select the Faxes menu you will be allocated an inbound Fax number. Faxes sent to your number will be stored in your Email Inbox in PDF format.

Pooosh Cam


On Java mobile phones Pooosh Cam is a separate program whereas on Windows Mobile it is integrated into Pooosh. Pooosh Cam allows you to view video pictures captured by web cams that are broadcasting using the Pooosh desktop application. On Java phones there is a download menu item which will allow you to download and install Pooosh cam on your phone.
